The Useful Shape of Useless Notes

2026-04-033 min

A defense of fragments, drafts, margins, and all the thoughts that refuse to become a pitch deck.

Some notes earn their keep by refusing to become useful too quickly. They sit on the bench, collect dust, and eventually point to the thing everyone was politely stepping around.

The Mill keeps those notes in view. A rough edge is not a defect here; it is proof that the material still remembers being handled.

This is the working theory: usefulness is best when it arrives late, slightly embarrassed, and with better shoes than expected.
